The Air Safety Management System (SMS) provides the necessary training and equipment to enable each crew to complete their assigned tasks in the safest,most efficient manner. This Safety Management System is in accordance with the FAA mandate. To ensure our operating companies’ Safety Management Systems are maintained, practiced, and up to date, we have partnered with industry auditing partners for continued internal evaluation of these programs.
It’s often said that safety is no accident. The key to any effective, safe aircraft operation is a well-trained pilot—the most important safety device on an aircraft! The pilots provided for Access Air members are experienced and receive initial and on-going training in the aircraft and routes they fly. This training includes both ground school and simulator-based training, after which they must pass a check ride with an FAA flight inspector.
The flight operations companies we work with are committed to sending each pilot through an industry-leading Crew Resource Management (CRM) training program to foster better communication with the goal of creating a safer flight environment. The training includes Human Factors training, Communication Skills training, and Situational Awareness training as well as advanced courses in the use of cutting-edge technology that is now standard in most modern cockpits. Access Air also developed and utilizes its CRM program through which all employees and departments of Access Air have safety ingrained into their corporate DNA. From the line personnel that service the aircraft to the chief pilot and owner, everyone has the authority and responsibility to ensure that each and every flight is the safest flight.
